1.item   n.条，项目，条款；（新闻等的）一条，一则
【例】The news item is mainly about a joint venture between a US. company and a UK company.

2.dumb   adj.哑的，不能说话的；（因恐惧、害羞等）说不出话的，沉默的，不愿开口的
【例】Animals are our precious dumb friends, and we have the responsibility to protect them.
动物们是我们珍贵的“沉默”朋友，我们有责任保护它们。

3.pop   n．砰的一声；流行音乐 v．（使）砰地响：（突然）来，去，进．出 adj.流行的，普及的
【例】There was a loud pop when the man opened the champagne.
那个人打开香槟酒时发出了砰的一声巨响。

4.accurate  adj.准确的，精确的
【记】词根记忆：ac（表加强）+cur（跑）+ate（…的）--跑了又跑，测量距离--准确的
【例】Many young girls trying to cope with budget housekeeping fail for the simple reason they cannot keep accurate checks on their purchases.

【例】The type of weapon will stun the enemy for several seconds.

7.identify  V．认明，识别，鉴定：认同
【记】词根记忆：ident(相同)+ify--认为相同--认同
【例】The banks would be required, if necessary, to identify the origin of foreign funds.
如果必要的话，银行将被要求确认国外资金的来源。( 2000)
【用】identify常和介词with连用，表示“认为…等同于”。

8.prime  adj.主要的：最佳的；最初的 n．（某人的）鼎盛期

【例】The businessman’s prime purpose of doing so was personal benefit.
