1.glaring  adj.耀眼的，极度光亮的；显眼的，显著的；怒目而视的
【例】The lights were so glaring that we couldn't open our eyes.
强烈的灯光照得我们都睁不开眼睛了。
There are some glaring errors in your report.

2.disillusion  vt.使幻想破灭，使醒悟，使不再着迷
【记】联想记忆：dis(除去)+illusion(幻想)--去掉幻想--使醒悟
【例】I hate to disillusion you, but you'll probably never get your money back from them.
我真不愿意让你失望，但你可能永远都无法从他们那里拿回你的钱了。
【用】固定用法be disillusioned with意思是“对…大失所望”。
【派】disillusioned(adj.醒悟的，幻想破灭的)

3.random   adj.任意的，随便的
【例】at random While l was waiting, I picked up a magazine, turned to a page at random，and started reading.

4.reasonable  adj.懂道理的，合情合理的；有理智的，明智的；公道的，不贵的
【记】联想记忆：reason(道理)+able--懂道理的
【例】The results I got in the math paper were quite reasonable.
我在数学考卷上得出的答案是非常合理的。（2005听力）
The coat has a reasonable price.
这件外套价格公道。

5.define   vt.解释，给…下定义，确定…的范围（界限）
【记】词根记忆：de（表加强）+fin（范围）+e--划定范围-确定…的范围
【例】Migration is usually defined as“permanent or semi-permanent change of residence.”
移民通常被定义为“永久或半永久的住处变迁”。(1999)

6.sort  n．种类，类别；样子，举止 vt.分类，整理；交往
【记】本身为词根：种类
【例】The company provided all sorts of insurances.
这家公司提供各类保险。
I waste an average of ten minutes a day just on sorting out junk mail.
我每天光是拣出垃圾邮件就要浪费十分钟。

7.climate  n．气候；一般（社会）趋势．（社会）风气
【例】In the present economic climate we can make even greater progress than previously.

8.ebb   n./vi.退潮，落潮
【例】at a low ebb People's favor for classic music is at a low ebb.
