1.anxiety  n．忧虑，担心，焦虑：渴望，热望
【记】来自anxious(adj.担忧的；渴望的)
【例】There ought to be less anxiety over the perceived risk of mountain climbing than exists in the public mind today.

2.counsel  n．辩护律师：（专业）意见，忠告 v．劝告，提供意见
【例】Your teacher can give you some vocational counsel.
老师可以给你提出一些就业指导。
【用】counsel有两种句式：①counsel sb. to do sth.[（当面）劝某人做某事]；②counsel one's doing sth.[（不当着某人的面）建议某人做某事]。

3.bold  adj.大胆的，勇敢的；冒失的；醒目的，粗大的

这三个词都有“勇敢的”之意。bold强调在艰苦与危险的情况下积极自信、大胆进取的天性；brave一般指在困难面前无畏，本质上不喜欢危险；fearless强调的是大胆坚决毫不害怕。

4.jealousy  n．嫉妒，妒忌

6.intersect  v．横断，横切，贯穿；相交，交叉

7.mark  n.斑点，痕迹；分数;标记 v．弄脏，留下痕迹；给予分数；标志

8.thrust  v．刺，戳；刺进；用力推，冲 n．推，刺，戳；推进力
【例】This rocket engine develops several thousand pounds of thrust.
