1.fling  vt.投，抛，摔 n．恣情放纵，尽情欢乐
【例】Since retiring, he had a brief fling coaching the Lakers at the end of the 1993-94 season.
自从退休后，他在1993—1994赛季末执教湖人队，从中获得了短暂的乐趣。
【用】fling oneself into sth.是一个比较常用的词组，表示“全心投入做…”。

2.blank  adj.空白的；空虚的：茫然的；没有表情的：无韵脚的 n．空白，空格，空页
【例】Harry found a diary with many blank pages.
哈里发现一本有很多空白页的日记本。

3.suffocate  v．（使）窒息而死，把…闷死
【记】词根记忆：suf+foc(喉咙)+ate--在喉咙下面--（使）窒息而死
【例】Many people suffocate d in the burning building.
许多人在燃烧的大楼里窒息而死。

4.outline n．轮廓;提纲，要点，概括 vt.画出…的轮廓，打出…的草图
【记】组合词：out(出来)+line(线条)--画出线条--轮廓
【倒】The book gives a brief outline of the course of his research up till now.
这本书简要概括了他到目前为止所做的研究。(2004)

5.margin  n.页边的空白处：余额，富裕；边界，边缘地区
【例】They had to make do with the small profit margins.
他们不得不靠较少的利润勉强应付。

6.mingle  V．使混合，混入
【记】和single(n．单个)一起记
【例】The waters of the two streams mingled to form one river.
两股溪水汇聚成了一条河流。

7.dose  n．（药物等的一次）剂量，一服；一次，一份v．（按剂量）给…服药
【例】I advise most of my patients, as long as they aren't allergic to aspirin and don't have bleeding problems, to take low-dose aspirin.
