1.negative n．否定词，否定语；底片adj.否定的；消极的：（电）负极的
【记】词根记忆：neg(否认)+ative（…的）--否定的
【例】You should leave all negative thoughts at the door.
你应该把所有消极的想法都抛到门外，

2.vulnerable   adj.易受攻击的，有弱点的；（指人）易受伤害的，脆弱的．敏感的
【例】Interpol is urged to set up a database of those convicted abroad to prevent them working with vulnerable people.
国际警察组织被督促建立海外罪犯信息数据库以防止他们与意志不坚者谋事
【用】vulnerable后常接介词to+名词，表示“易受…的伤害”。

3.capability  n.能力；素质，潜箭
【记】词根记忆：cap(握住)+ability(能力)--能把握住--能力
【例】Parker is an executive with good managerial skills and organizational capabilities.
帕克是个有着良好管理技巧和组织能力的主管。
【派】capable( adj.有能力的，有才能的)
【辨】capability, capacity；capability指人完成工作或实现目的所具备的能力，也可以指某种胜任力；capacity指接受、吸收、容纳或完成某事物的能力，可用于人或物，常与of连用，
如：The hall has a seating capacity of 500.

4.underline  vt.在…下面画线；强调，加强
【记】组合词：under(在…下)+line(画线)--在…下面画线--强调
【例】Germany is viewing the World Cup as a chance to change perceptions and underline its contribution to world culture.
德国认为举办世界杯是一个改变人们看法、强调本国对世界文化所作贡献的机会，

5.tariff  n．关税；（酒店、餐馆等的）价目表

【例】An economist said that protective duties and tariff wars are no less costly than a real warfare.
